Kilian Hennessy travel always brings with it surprises, new encounters and love. This time, the sea breeze took him to a new land, where the tea culture has persisted for centuries. He witnessed the making of jasmine tea, watching as the fermented white flowers infused their oils. He witnessed the serving of jasmine tea accompanied by floating flowers and tasted it in a moment he wished would never end. One sip and all the senses expand into jasmine flowers outside of space and time. “Imperial Tea” is a pure and linear fragrance whose centerpiece is a green tea accord infused with Sambac jasmine absolute. It opens with Bergamot and Laminaria Algae – a rare ingredient in perfumery that offers a mineral and airy balance – which captures the fog of the ocean air and persists for a long time thanks to the notes of Vetiver and Musk. At the center of the composition we find jasmine tea, reminiscent of a regal Chinese cultural ritual that has lasted for millennia.
