Enhancers are a fun way to make transparent fragrances that can be worn alone or layered with whatever someone else is digging at the moment. I wanted to make a soft crystalline perfume that highlighted the humid parts inside of a flower. My muse, so to speak, was a memory of orange blossom water liberally sprinkled in the air upon entering a market on the back streets of Fez in Morocco. Orange Blossom water is shockingly inviting—like the smell of fresh baked bread. I always wished the water could be worn like a perfume but it doesn’t last (it’s the secret ingredient I use in my famous – with my kids – pancakes). And the oil you extract from the flower, though lovely, doesn’t have the same balmy water vibe. Crystal Pistil my attempt to make that fresh humid flower note last and last in all its crystal glory.
